Kris “KI” Persad made history as being the youngest performer to become crowned Chutney Soca Monarch two years ago in 2012.

And now he’s accomplished it again.

Persad, 28, has been selected winner of the 2014 Chutney Soca Monarch held at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Saturday, he exclaimed a mixture of factors added to his success — the fans, his family and also music.

“It was a tough fight going up against the best in Chutney Soca and I am just thankful to everyone for putting me first this year. I promised never to ‘let down’ the people but to keep the flag of Chutney Soca flying high.”

KI, collected a $2 million 1st prize in which he intends to utilize the money to invest in better equipment whilst attempting to expand the Chutney Soca market across Europe. He explained that his group 3Veni have developed a brand over the years and that he intends to keep enhancing on the standard of the music for all to enjoy.

The young winner who would like Chutney Soca to grow into a major international brand also penned the songs that saw him grab the Chutney Soca Monarch title in 2012 and 2014.

The audacious performance begun with his entrance on an airplane crammed with gorgeous air hostesses, which signaled that he’d just returned from a world tour. The set up showcased pyrotechnic gloves and climaxed by having the champion crowd surfing upon a float. It was without a doubt his enthusiastic and theatrical performance that scored high with the judges’.
